Episodic

I'm working heavily on two projects right now, gearing up for the SCBWI-L.A. Working Writer's Retreat.

Yesterday, I spent many hours taking two episodic manuscripts and squishing them together to create a complete story. It's getting there.

The issues:
The style of each manuscript is different
The focus on each manuscript is different

And yet they do share a strong common bond. Shoving two into one is forcing me to flesh them both out to smooth the transition. Looks like they'll actually reach a respectable book length as a single entity.

On the MG side, I'm plowing through a long rewrite. More than halfway through the manuscript, but the second half requires more work.

Feeling productive this week and that feels really good.

  1. Well done you. I'm looking forward to next week when the kids go back to school. I haven't done diddly all summer, and it feels rotten.

  2. I hope you have a blast! I also wanted to mention I'm having a contest at my blog, and I really hope you have the time (and inclination) to participate: http://tinyurl.com/327guma

  4. Okay, I was productive. Now I'm sorting through old critique notes on the one half of the squished mss (Yours is in there, Suze) and pulling out the pages that have notes I really want to look at. Doesn't feel as productive as nothing is changing in the ms.

Got my entry in to WW's contest. I'll post a note here soon.
